What is embodiment?

Embodiment is how it feels to be in your body. It is unique to you.

How does embodiment benefit you?

The mind and body influence each other. We sometimes disconnect our minds from our bodies.  Practicing embodiment exercises brings that connection back. The more you experience that connection within yourself, the better able you are to understand your actions and reactions.  Once you have that understanding, you can begin to consciously influence how the mind and the body feel. 

 

Examples: Consciously slowing your breathing may make your body feel more relaxed. Standing tall may make you feel more powerful.

 

Fully feeling our embodiment enhances the quality of our lives. Experiencing that deeper connection between mind and body within ourselves can lead to deeper relationships with others. 

What do I do as a coach?

I help you increase your awareness of how it feels to be in your body. We will work with various movements and still poses to see how they feel for you.  Visualization and breathing exercises may also be added. Movement and poses are chosen individually for you, depending on the issue we are working on.  Curiosity and experimentation is key here.  There is no “one size fits all”. You will learn techniques to shift your physical and mental states.
